Dubai airport
Dubai airport

Dubai Airport looks like a city. It is a huge area where you find a special subway, which drives from one to the other end of the airport. There are plenty of restaurants and shops as well. At the airport you can catch free WiFi without any complicated connection. You can shorten the wait for a longer stamp to your pass.

Transport in Dubai between terminals or on/from the airport

Buses and metro run between terminals. From Dubai to the airport and from the airport to downtown Dubai you can use the metro or taxi. The subway is located near the terminals.

Arrivals/departures and formalities

Once you arrive, you will go through a normal check-in and you will wait for the stamp to your pass. You do not need to have a special visa in Dubai. Once you are leaving Dubai, the process is the same. There is nothing unexpected waiting for you here.

Accommodation near the airport, the nearest beach and shopping center

Our recommendation: Layover guide Dubai

If you are in Dubai only for a longer stopover or for one or two days, maybe it will be a good idea to find some nice accommodation near the airport and the beach.

I recommend you to search for an accommodation in the Deira district, whether via Booking or Airbnb, etc. This part of Dubai is very close to the airport and at the same time, you will find a metro, shops or a lot of restaurants here. Deira is one of the cheapest districts.

The nearest shopping center from the airport is the Deira City Center. If you do not have too much time, I suggest you to take a taxi from the airport to this shopping center. There is a big Carrefour here, plenty of shops, restaurants and in front of the shopping center is the subway station.

Beaches closest to the airport

Al Mazmar Beach Park – this beach is approximately 12 km from the airport. On Mondays and Wednesdays, the beach is reserved for women and children (only boys under 6 years) – be aware of this! Entrance fee is 5 AED, 2 deck chairs and parasol 55 AED. There is a possibility to rent a towel, which cost 10 AED.

Another choice is Jumeirah Open Beach, which is 20 km away from the airport. It is a public beach without admissions. Only if you want a deck chairs you need to pay. There are a lot of places, where you can rent a deck, so also prices are different – closer to Burj al Arab and the center, the price is rising. But the beach is really long and you can go up to Burj al Arab, take a photo, visit various bars and restaurants nearby. I liked this beach, because you can find even quieter places here. I paid around 100 AED for 2 deck chairs, large umbrella and 2 towels. I described more about beaches in Dubai in a separate article.
